Domain Buying and selling is a prominent buisness, there are many ways of making money off the internet, and domain buying and selling is just one of the ways to make money online, but we all know the challenges we face while selling the domains, it’s just not as easy to sell your domains like cupcakes.

It takes months or sometimes years to sell your domain name, most domain sellers usually park their domain names on something like Sedo or Afternic either for these reasons.

1. Find an incoming offer
2. Monetize the domain
3. Take inquiries about the domain price.
4. Domain Selling Page (direct buyout on spot)

There is no problem parking your domain on these domain sellers site, of course their whole business is based on acting like a middleman to your domains. However, most domain sellers take exorbitant fees like upto 20% of your domain selling fee, for what ? simply hosting your domain names ? they aren’t showcasing it to anyone, they are just charging you fee because of a successful sale, let’s be honest, there are hundreds of thousands of domains listed they cannot advertise every single one of them and make a sale, but it is also not fair to take your fair share of money without them advertising your domain, its not a win-win situation for each of us.

Most of the time domain sales work because of an incoming offer (someone finding your domain and wanting to buy it) , very rarely its an outgoing offer (you reaching out to someone for the domain).

So, here’s what the domain sellers are charging high fee as much as 20% for.

1. Hosting the domain
2. Taking payment and acting as a middleman for you.

Luckily you can do this on your own as well, without even writing a basic line of code. I will show you two ways

1. Hosting the domain by self (using Netlify, WordPress)
2. Processing the payment using Escrow.com

The benefit of processing the domain using services such as Escrow is, you will pay as much as 1-2% of total fee of the domain, i paid about 150$ for a 6000$ Domain while buying the domain through escrow as compared to 850$ (USD) while selling the same domain for 6200$.

You need a custom contact form, you can download this contact form from the links below, don’t worry the contact form is all HTML / CSS and uses Bulma/TailwindCSS design, so there’s nothing hidden or suspicious in the code. Alternatively you can pick any template from many resources such as Codepen or FreeFrontend. But for our users, i’ll provide the contact form. All you need to do is download the contact form, use something like Notepad++ for editing the Title and Domain Name, and make changes such as offer amount etc.

Using Netlify

Add your Domain to Netlify Dashboard

1. Go to Netlify and log in to your account. (Using GitHub)
2. Click on Create a Site and add your domain to Netlify.
3. Drop the HTML file folder in the deploy section.
4. Let the offers start coming to you.

Add Your Custom Domain

1. Click on the “Add custom domain” button.
2. Type your custom domain name (e.g., www.yourdomain.com) and click “Verify.”
3. If you purchased your domain from a registrar, Netlify may automatically verify it. If not, you might need to verify ownership through DNS settings. Follow the provided instructions if manual verification is required.

Verifying the Domain Name

1. Log in to your domain registrar’s account (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).
2. Update DNS Records
3. Set up the DNS records according to Netlify’s instructions. This usually involves updating A Records and CName records.
4. Once you have done that wait for a while usually 5-10 minutes to take effect and click verify and you will see that your domain is verified.

Deploy the HTML Contact form

Upload the HTML Form that you have edited in your domain control panel, once it is done you will see a live page, make sure you have selected the domain name to be shown such as yourdomain.com instead of domainxyz.netlify.app

Enable HTTPS

Enable HTTPS for your domain, since sites might show error while potential users come to your domain name while inquiring about your domain name.

Enable Forms

Go to Forms section in the sidebar and enable the Forms options, now you can go to your website and check that your submissions are being recorded. You can check by typing test name and email.

Once a potential domain buyer has reached out to you, simply contact them and transfer the domain using Escrow.com. This will save you tons of money as fee.
